Blog > City of Chichester assembly rooms restoration

The newly refurbished Assembly rooms within the Chichester City Council House in Chichester, West Sussex, gave a golden start to 2015. The Georgian public rooms have been restored to their former glory and I was commissioned to repaint four plastered chimney panels bearing the arms of the City of Chichester.

To ensure an accurate reproduction, I took photos and drawings of each of the 3ft high wall panels which were faded, cracked and dirty. A complete re-paint from scratch was required and the whole job was completed in-situ over 4 days using traditional oil paint colours and almost 12 books of real 23.5 carat gold leaf.
