I am regularly contacted by individuals who want to learn more about hand lettering and the art and craft of signwriting. I am pleased to provide introductory workshops in Traditional signwriting and have given practical tuition to beginners, hobbyists, schools groups and even a paint technican from Rolls-Royce motor cars. These are small, fun and informal day courses where groups or individuals can learn signwriters skills and suit all ability levels,
A workshop can be tailored to your needs, whether you are a beginner, or more advanced artist, and can be held at my workshop, or at your venue.
If you would like to find out more about traditional signwriting techniques, contact me to discuss your requirements.
I will be teaching a class at the Weald and Downland Museum again this year on Monday 25th June -for further details and to book, contact the museum through their website. HERE
A real hands-on day, held right here among the action of my own workshop at Midhurst, Students will learn the basics of freehand brush lettering and sign writing in a fun and creative atmosphere,
While it is true that the skills of the traditional signwriter take a long time to learn and even longer to master, This informal workshop will cover the tools, paints and processes of traditional signwriting, and learning the essential brush control techniques and basics of Block, and classic lettering styles.
Students will then design, and signwrite their own unique panel sign to take home.
All materials, paints, brushes, tea, coffee, ( and if your lucky.. Biscuits!) and a light lunch, will be provided, Classes are limited to small numbers so everyone gets a fair chance at some one to one tuition as well as mixing with other like-minded creative individuals.
I have also put together a signwriters starter tool kit ,available on the day with brushes, and all essential goodies to get you started, and keep you painting and practicing into the future.
The day will run from 10.30 am until 5.00pm, and booking is essential please.
