Tattoo anyone?

I make and paint signs for all sorts of businesses but sometimes a job just screams out that it needs a special sort of painted sign.
Here are two great examples for tattoo studios painted recently.

The first is reverse painted onto the glass shop window.

The second is hand painted onto a light aluimium panel to hang as a window display

Tillings for teas… and traditional signs !

The last of the summer sunshine found me in the pretty Surrey vilage of Golmshall, painting some Edwardian style signwriting directly to the building,

The bold and old style signage gives strong appeal to the tasty treats and decor to be found inside this vibrant and popular little cafe.

It's worthwhile popping by for tea, and taste it for yourselves !

Wall-dogging at the Imperial War Museum

Wall-dogging, is an old sign painters term from the 1920's when huge signs where often painted onto the sides of buildings.

This interesting commision meant a challenging time lettering these quotes by hand directly to a rough cast concrete effect display at the Imperial War Museum in the City of London.

The five quotes and a map where painstakingly painted in signwriter's colour, using sable brushes and a delicate touch.

The display will form part of 'War Story' -A display featuring the first-hand experiences of British service personnel currently serving in Afghanistan which have been recorded for present and future generations.

Well worth a look if you are in town !
